A moment’s pause, so far away

From where we thought to be

Now passed obscurely like a dream

A distant vivid memory

Of times engaged in simple things

Sublime and yet prosaic

Of wrecking balls and ready songs

In sharing life’s mosaic

For such a brief and tender space

Along a common road

That seemed a sweet and perfect place

To lighten heavy loads

Of pain and grief received yet given

While on the way to here

Just flawed and ordinary folk

Awash in angst and fear

That time will never make things right

Although we know it must

And somehow find a way to heal

If in our hearts we trust
